Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Nawaz Sharif may return to Pakistan in September by ending his years-long self-exile.
According to insider sources of the Sharif family, Nawaz Sharif would depart from London for Pakistan approximately a month from now, signaling his arrival in the middle of September.
The decision for Nawaz Sharif’s return comes after a two-month-long sojourn across Europe and the Middle East, which concluded last week with his arrival in London.
Though the Sharif family’s legal advisors and political associates initially recommended an immediate return, some members within the PML-N suggested a mid-September arrival.
A trusted source within the Sharif family told the media that all preparations for the purpose were well underway.
During his time abroad, Nawaz Sharif maintained regular communication with his brother, former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, and PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, discussing the intricacies of his impending return to Pakistan.
In anticipation of his return, Shehbaz Sharif, who recently stepped down from the position of Prime Minister of Pakistan, is expected to travel to London within the next week to meet Nawaz and coordinate arrangements.
PML-N stalwarts such as Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Asif, Javed Latif, Saad Rafique, Parvez Rasheed, and Irfan Siddiqui, among others, are scheduled to visit London over the coming three weeks to engage in discussions and planning related to Nawaz Sharif’s return.
The PML-N has grand plans for Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming, envisioning a massive reception upon his arrival in Lahore.
Hina Pervez Butt, a prominent social media activist for the PML-N and former provincial lawmaker, confirmed the party’s intent to mobilize tens of thousands of supporters to welcome Nawaz Sharif.
Shehbaz Sharif, in a recent interview with Geo News, affirmed that his elder brother was poised to return in September, emphasizing that the recent Supreme Court decision holds no bearing on Nawaz Sharif’s return. He also clarified that Nawaz Sharif has successfully completed the stipulated five-year disqualification period.
Shehbaz Sharif further asserted, “Nawaz Sharif will return and this verdict will not be an obstruction. Nawaz Sharif will come back to Pakistan next month and will face the law and lead the election campaign.”
