Consensus Reached Between Shehbaz-Riaz for Interim PM selection

A consensus between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and outgoing Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Raja Riaz regarding the appointment of Anwaarul Haq Kakar as the interim prime minister was reached on Saturaday.
The decision was announced following a high-level meeting held in Islamabad today.
Subsequent to the mutual decision, the recommendation for Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s appointment was swiftly forwarded to President Arif Alvi for the formal endorsement.
In line with the constitutional framework, President Arif Alvi granted his approval under Article 224-A of the Constitution.
The President’s office issued an official statement confirming Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s appointment as the caretaker prime minister.
The choice of Anwaarul Haq Kakar for the interim prime ministerial role echoes the intentions of the political leadership to address regional disparities and foster a sense of inclusion among smaller provinces.
This consensus was not only about appointing a non-controversial figure but also aimed to bridge the gap between different regions and communities within Pakistan.
Who is Anwaarul Haq Kakar
Anwaarul Haq Kakar, an independent senator representing Balochistan since 2018, emerges as a pivotal figure in the political landscape. With a six-year term extending until March 2024, Kakar has effectively chaired the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. His active participation in committees spanning Finance and Revenue, Foreign Affairs, and Science and Technology has showcased his diverse expertise.
Having previously led as the parliamentary leader for the Balochistan Awami Party within the Senate, Kakar’s leadership acumen has been evident. His contributions span various spheres, including his role as the spokesperson for the Balochistan government from December 2015 to January 2018, highlighting his experience in effective communication and governance.
Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s educational background features a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from the esteemed University of Balochistan. Impressively, his multilingual proficiency extends to languages such as English, Urdu, Persian, Pushto, Balochi, and Brahvi, showcasing his ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s official swearing-in ceremony is slated for tomorrow (Sunday), marking the commencement of his responsibilities as the interim prime minister.
