Summary for NA dissolution to be sent to President tonight: PM

Shehbaz-Riaz meeting on interim PM scheduled for tomorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday revealed his plan to send a summary for dissolution of the National Assembly to President Dr. Arif Alvi later in the evening.
Addressing fellow parliamentarians in a farewell ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for their trust and support during 15-month government.
He took the opportunity to criticize the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government for its handling of the country’s affairs during their four years rule.
He lamented the burden placed upon his administration due to the negligence and failures of the past regime.
Despite grappling with unfavorable circumstances, including severe floods and economic challenges, Prime Minister Shehbaz asserted that his government managed to navigate through these difficulties.
Drawing attention to the international front, he accused the previous government of tarnishing Pakistan’s reputation by violating agreements signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He pointedly criticized his predecessor, Imran Khan, alleging that the PTI government had strained Pakistan’s relations with friendly nations. He specifically mentioned the “cipher drama” which, according to him, exacerbated diplomatic tensions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the international community was well aware of the previous government’s unfavorable attitude toward friendly countries.
He condemned the heavy borrowing undertaken by the previous administration and the perceived subservience displayed on the global stage.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz criticized the past government for meddling in crucial internal matters, which, in his opinion, contributed to a toxic atmosphere within the country and propagated harmful propaganda.
The Prime Minister also disclosed his plans to meet with Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Raja Riaz, on Thursday to discuss the selection of the caretaker Prime Minister.
Leader of the Opposition, Raja Riaz, affirmed that expressed optimism about reaching an agreement on the interim Prime Minister’s name, which would then be presented to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) if consensus on the three proposed names cannot be achieved.
Raja Riaz remained resolute in his commitment to collaborating with Prime Minister Shehbaz to finalize a candidate for the interim Prime Minister’s role. “All efforts will be made to finalize the name of the interim PM with the Prime Minister,” he asserted.
