In response to recent media reports and speculations, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb clarified that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had neither chosen nor ruled out any candidate for the position of interim prime minister.
She stated that the appointment of the interim PM will be carried out strictly adhering to the procedure laid down in the Constitution.
In a tweet, Minister Aurangzeb emphasized that the Prime Minister would engage in consultations with all allied parties within the government to identify the most suitable candidate for the role. Furthermore, guidance from PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will also be sought during the selection process, she added.

Earlier, there were reports in Dawn newspaper stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly dismissed speculations surrounding the appointment of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar as the caretaker prime minister.
He asserted that a neutral individual, agreed upon through consultation with coalition partners, PML-N’s supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, and the leader of opposition in the National Assembly Raja Riaz, will be chosen to lead the interim government.
The primary objective is to ensure a transparent electoral process in the upcoming general elections.
The Prime Minister expressed his confidence in the efficiency of the interim government, emphasizing that it will play a crucial role in facilitating fair and free elections for the nation.
