PM Shehbaz Sharif announces early transition to interim set up

Parliament to complete 5 years term next month

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that his government would transfer power to an interim setup prior to the expiration of their tenure which was set to take place next month.
The incumbent National Assembly that came into being under the then-PTI government on August 12, 2018 will complete its five year term next month under the coalition government.
Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony in Sialkot, the prime minister said his government would complete its term next month. “We will hopefully go before the tenure’s completion, and the new interim government will take over.”
At a cheque distribution ceremony in Lahore, PM Shehbaz spoke about the upcoming general elections, expressing his party’s determination to change the destiny of the country if given the opportunity.
He pledged that the entire PML-N leadership, including party supremo Nawaz Sharif, would lead the nation towards progress and prosperity.
PM Shehbaz urged the public to make informed decisions by comparing the performance of PML-N governments with that of the PTI’s four years.
He lauded his elder brother’s statesmanship qualities and highlighted his achievements, such as resolving the issue of prolonged load shedding, initiating youth programs, and spearheading multi-billion-dollar projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Furthermore, PM Shehbaz criticized PTI leader Imran Khan for targeting PML-N leadership and the opposition with baseless accusations, instead of appreciating the “revolutionary steps” taken by the previous PML-N government.
Shehbaz emphasized that the youth programs implemented during Nawaz’s tenure had yielded positive results, including the fair distribution of 50,000 vehicles across Punjab and a high loan repayment rate of 99 percent.
