Bilawal Bhutto inaugurates Dhabeji Economic Zone in Thatta

Zone to create massive job opportunities

PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone project in Thatta on Saturday aimed at attracting the foreign direct investment and creating job opportunities in the country.
He was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers and Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Many industrialists, diplomats, and representatives from the federal government attended the event.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with the Sindh chief minister unveiled the inauguration plaque on the occasion.
During the ceremony, officials gave a detailed briefing to the PPP chairman about the project’s features and benefits.

They highlighted its industrial infrastructure, uninterrupted advantages, sustainability, and its potential to generate a $5 billion investment and create 100,000 job opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, the foreign minister emphasized that the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone would be a public-private partnership project aimed at promoting economic and social development in the country.
He stated that the objective of the project was to establish a network of industries in Karachi, contributing to the overall growth of the region.
The Dhabeji Special Economic Zone was granted the status of a special economic zone by the Board of Investment on June 22. Spanning across 1,550 acres, the project will be developed in two phases and will accommodate hundreds of industrial units.
The execution of the project follows a public-private partnership model, where the Sindh government has provided the land to the contractor/developer Zahid Khan & Brothers. In addition to developing the zone, the contractor will also bear the cost of the land, which will be paid to the provincial government.
The Dhabeji Special Economic Zone is an integral part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, further strengthening economic ties and trade opportunities between the two countries. The project aims to foster economic growth, attract investment, and generate employment opportunities in the region.
