OIC condemns Israeli military operation in West Bank

Eight Palestinians killed, many sustained injuries

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a condemnation on Monday regarding an Israeli military operation in the Palestinian city of Jenin, located in the occupied West Bank.
The OIC strongly criticized the operation, which resulted in the deaths of nine Palestinians, including eight in Jenin, and the injury of at least 50 others, according to the health ministry.

In a statement, the Jeddah-based organization described the Israeli military operation as a “heinous crime” that is part of a pattern of state terrorism against the Palestinian people. The OIC held Israel accountable for the consequences of this act and called for an investigation and accountability.

The OIC further appealed to the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities by implementing relevant resolutions, putting an end to what it referred to as continuous Israeli terrorism, and providing protection for the Palestinian people.

Israeli military sources reported that over 1,000 troops were involved in the operation, primarily targeting the Jenin refugee camp. Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that the operation was part of a series of actions that have been conducted and will continue to be carried out.

Tensions have been escalating throughout the occupied West Bank in recent months due to repeated Israeli raids into Palestinian towns. The health ministry reported that since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces have killed nearly 190 Palestinians, while at least 25 Israelis have also lost their lives during the same period.
