Young mountaineers & Pakistani women make historic summits

Tribute paid to Pak Army at Khosar Gang mountain in Shigar

Eight-year-old Ayan Shigri and 12-year-old Danish Sadpara, young mountaineers, achieved a remarkable feat by summiting the 6,400-meter Khosar Gang mountain in Shigar.
Their ascent was a display of solidarity with the armed forces, as they proudly carried banners of the Pakistan army and leadership to pay tribute to their services.
The achievement also set a world record, making them the youngest mountaineers to conquer the mountain.
In another historic achievement, Naila Kiani and Samina Baig became the first Pakistani women to summit Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest peak in the world, standing at 8,125 meters.
According to Karar Haidri, Secretary General of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, Naila reached the summit at 10:18 am, followed by Baig at 11:08 am.
The two women overcame treacherous terrain, harsh weather conditions, and numerous challenges during their arduous journey.
Accompanied by a team of Pakistani mountaineers including Rizwan Dad, Eid Muhammad, Ahmed Baig, Waqar Ali, Saeed Karim, Liaqat, Wajid Nagri, and Shah Daulat, both Kiani and Baig successfully scaled the peak.
Additionally, the Imagine Nepal expedition team announced that ten of its members also reached the summit of Nanga Parbat.
Summit Karakoram Managing Director Sakhawat Hussain reported that Chris Warner from the United States and three Nepalese Sherpas were among those who successfully ascended the peak.
Furthermore, 28 other mountaineers from around the world accomplished the feat today, making it the largest single-day Nanga Parbat summit in history.
Nalia Kiani
Naila Kiani, a Dubai-based Pakistani banker, amateur boxer, and mother of two daughters, gained recognition after her wedding shoot at K2 Basecamp went viral on social media in 2018. She has previously summited Gasherbrum-II, Gasherbrum-I, K2, and Annapurna, in addition to being the second Pakistani woman to conquer Mount Everest earlier this year.
Samina Baig
Samina Baig, hailing from the remote village of Shimshal, was the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest in 2014. She achieved another milestone last year by summiting K2, just hours before Naila Kiani reached the peak. Baig also holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani, male or female, to climb the seven summits of all seven continents. In 2010, she ascended the virgin peak Chashkin Sar, which was subsequently renamed ‘Samina Peak’ in her honor. She also conquered another virgin peak in 2011, known as ‘Koh-i-Brobar’ or ‘Mount Equality.’
