Ruet body declares Eidul Azha to be celebrated on June 29

Saudi Arabia to celebrate on June 28

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, has officially announced that Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 29.
The decision was reached after a two-day session dedicated to moon sighting for the month of Zil Hajj.
The committee received testimonies of moon sighting from various cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and others, which were crucial in determining the date of Eidul Azha. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, Department of Meteorology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In contrast to some countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, and others, where the moon was sighted a day earlier, leading to the celebration of Eid on June 28, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision establishes June 29 as the day for the festivities in Pakistan.
Eidul-Azha, an important festival in the Muslim calendar, holds significant religious and cultural importance. It will be observed as a public holiday in Muslim countries. This year, Eidul Azha will commence on Wednesday, June 28 in certain countries, while in others, including Pakistan, it will be marked on June 29.
Eid ul-Adha serves as a commemoration of the prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion to God. According to Islamic tradition, Ibrahim received a divine message in a dream, instructing him to sacrifice his son, Isma’il, as an act of obedience. Despite being tempted by the devil to disobey, Ibrahim remained steadfast. As he was about to carry out the sacrifice, Allah intervened and provided a lamb as a substitute.
