Massive fire in Karachi plastic factory; No loss of life reported

Fire erupted on the third floor of the Sohail Plastic Factory

A major fire engulfed a plastic factory located in Karachi’s SITE area on Monday, resulting in significant damage. However, authorities have confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident. Rescue and police officials are currently working to determine the cause of the blaze.
At approximately 9:15 am, a fire erupted on the third floor of the Sohail Plastic Factory in Karachi’s SITE area, said the official sources, adding workers present inside the factory were promptly rescued, and as a precautionary measure, individuals from an adjacent factory were also evacuated to ensure their safety.
The collapse of the factory’s walls has caused substantial damage to the building, exacerbating the challenges faced by firefighters. The fire brigade, equipped with five fire tenders, two snorkels, and a water bowser, diligently worked to put out the fire.
The authorities concerned have confirmed that no loss of life or injuries was reported in connection with the fire.
The Edhi Foundation, a prominent rescue service, has also stated that there were no reports of casualties. Ambulances and volunteers from the foundation were actively present at the site, prepared to assist with rescue operations if needed.
According to the preliminary report, the fire appeared to have been caused by a short circuit. The district commissioner of Keamari has initiated an inquiry into the incident, aiming to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Once verified by the relevant authorities, a detailed report will be released, shedding more light on the incident.
This fire incident follows a tragic event in April, where four firefighters lost their lives and 13 others were injured in a fire at a factory located in Karachi’s New Karachi area. Additionally, earlier in the same month, a building near a generator market in Karachi’s New Chali area caught fire, resulting in one fatality and the discovery of three unconscious individuals.
