Special committee formed to probe leaked audio of ex-CJP’s son

Aslam Bootani to chair the committee

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf Wednesday formed a special committee to probe into alleged leaked audio call of Najam Nisar, the son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.
In the purported leaked audio, the former CJP’s son could be heard selling a party ticket of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to a candidate of the Punjab provincial assembly.
According to a notification issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, Muhammad Aslam Bhootani has been designated as the committee’s chairman. Along with him, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Abu Bakar, Chaudhary Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Sheikh Rohale Asghar, Syed Hussain Tariq, Naz Baloch, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Wajiha Qamar and Dr Muhammad Afzal Dhandhla are the committee members.
The committee has the authority to solicit assistance from any investigative institution as they carry out their thorough inquiry. Their goal is to investigate the matter comprehensively and release their report to the public once they have concluded their comprehensive investigation.
Last week, leaked audio purportedly featuring two separate telephonic conversations between former CJP’s son and Abuzar Chadhar — a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate from PP137 — and Mian Uzair, a middleman between the two.
In the audio, Najam can be heard demanding Rs12 million from Uzair for the party ticket.
In one of the leaked audios, Najam Saqib allegedly asked Abuzar Chadhar to pay a visit to his father to thank him for a favour, while in the other, he argues with Mian Uzair over money.
