COAS discusses military cooperation with PLA commander

COAS in China on four days official visit

Army Chief General Asim Munir on Wednesday discussed regional stability and military cooperation with the commander of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) had a meeting with the commander during his visit to the PLA’s headquarters.
The army chief, who is in China on a four-day official visit, arrived in the neighbouring country on Tuesday.
“COAS on his first day of official visit to China was given a warm welcome and was presented with the guard of honour at the PLA Army Headquarters,” said a news release of the Inter-Services Public Relations.
It said the army chief reviewed the “smartly turned out contingent” which was later followed by a detailed meeting with the Commander of PLA Army.
“Matters of mutual security interests and military cooperation were discussed [during the meeting],” the military’s media wing said, adding both military commanders reiterated the need for maintaining peace and stability in the region and enhancing military to military cooperation.
The COAS also witnessed a demonstration of the operational capabilities of the PLA Army troops and praised the high standards of training and the professionalism displayed by the soldiers.
According to the ISPR, COAS would hold further meetings with military leaders in China to enhance the long standing relations between the two militaries.
The inaugural meets are part of four days visit of COAS to China.
