Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday across the country as Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad announced that the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Thursday.
“No solid testimony of crescent sighting has been received from any part of the country, thus the first of Shawwal 1444 AH will be on Saturday,” said the chairman committee while addressing a news conference after a conclusive meeting along with other members of the committee here at the Religious Ministry.
He said the Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees also held their meetings at their respective headquarters across the country.
According to astronomical parameters, there was ‘no chance’ of sighting the new moon of Shawwal, 1444 AH on the evening of April 20, 2023 i.e. on 29th of Ramazan, 1444 AH said the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s report issued earlier.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Authorities have announced that the first day of Eid al-Fitr would begin on Friday, April 21, following the sighting of the crescent moon in Saudi Arabia.
The UAE and Qatar also announced that the first day of Eid will fall on Friday.
