Christians celebrate Easter Sunday

Special arrangements made for Easter prayers

Millions of Christians around the world are celebrating Easter with many from the community in Pakistan also visiting churches, organizing special events to commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead.
The government has made special arrangements for prayers, and tight security measures have been taken outside churches.
In Karachi, a colourful Easter celebration was held at Holy Trinity Church, where carols related to Easter were sung at a ceremony.
Easter does not fall on the same date every year, and the second major festival for the community is celebrated on the first Sunday of the Christian calendar.
Pakistani political leaders also took to the twitter and posted felicitation messages for the Christian community living in Pakistan.
“We wish Christians in Pakistan and the world over a very Happy Easter,” President Dr Arif Alvi tweeted on Sunday.


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also felicitated the Christian community across the globe, particularly Pakistan and wrote on his twitter:“Let us all vow to do our bit in making the world a peaceful place where communities can live in harmony & build a tomorrow of hope.”


“On this blessed occasion of #Easter, I extend my warmest greetings to our Christian brothers and sisters in #Pakistan and around the world. May this day inspire us all to work towards a world where all faiths and communities can live in peace, harmony, and mutual respect,” Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also tweeted.


Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has also whished Christian community a happy Easter.
