The Federal Government believed that free, fair and transparent election was not possible with the completion of an important task census and delimitation.
Talking a private television channel, Minister for Energy Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan said the coalition government wanted to hold general elections after completing census and delimitation.
Election with old data of population or census, would create many issues for political parties and ECP, he added.
The minister said that the incumbent government is engaged in collecting data of the population through the census.
He said security had been deployed to various parts to finish the process of the census. The Election Commission of Pakistan would have the requirement of security for polling stations and a heavy amount to bear the responsibility of the next elections in the country, he said.
Commenting on the court decision over the elections, he said that all the political partners would discuss the issue of early elections at the forum of parliament.
Khurram Dastagir said that coalition partners had expressed reservations over the court verdict regarding elections.
Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah while addressing the lawyers’ convention at the Judicial complex said election should be held with the consensus of all the stakeholders.
“We believe in the power of the vote and not escaping from holding the elections,” he said, adding election should be held with the consensus of all the stakeholders.
The minister said holding elections in two provincial assemblies would deteriorate the situation and warned that disputed polls would take the country towards anarchy and destabilization.
In his speech, Minister for Law, Azam Nazeer Tarar said the welfare and security of the legal community was a foremost priority of the government.
He also lauded the role of lawyers for democracy and in the speedy dispensation of justice.
