‘Doctrine of Necessity Buried’: PTI rejoices SC’s verdict on polls’ delay case

Sanctity of Constitution restored with SC's verdict

As the ruling parties decried the Supreme Court’s decision over the polls’ delay case, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership called it a watershed moment in the country’s political history which was marred by the doctrine of necessity.
Talking to the media, PTI vice-chairperson Shah Mahmood Qureshi said today was very important day in Pakistan’s history as the apex court had restored “sanctity of the Constitution” and buried doctrine of necessity.
He said today’s verdict also dealt a big blow to all those conspiratorial forces that were creating hurdles in the way of democracy and a democratic and constitutional system in this country.
Flanked by Barrister Ali Zafar said the decision would also remove all the concerns of the chief election commissioner who complained about lack of resources and security personnel for holding the elections.
He asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to fulfill its constitutional responsibility by holding the election in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Qureshi also congratulated the nation on the verdict which ruled the ECP’s order regarding delay in election in Punjab as “unconstitutional”.
PTI’s senior leader Fawad Chaudhry lauded the chief justice of Pakistan for the order, calling him a “people’s chief justice”.
“Very few people have the privilege to get the amount of respect that has come towards Justice Bandial and his fellow judges today,” he said.
“The victory of the Constitution is the victory of Pakistan,” said PTI’s leader Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari who also felicitated the entire nation on the verdict which he said would always be remembers in the history of Pakistan.
