PTI to express solidarity with CJP on Monday

Join us in our efforts to protect Constitution

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to hold a peaceful gathering at the Constitutional Avenue on Monday to not only express solidarity with the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) but also for protecting the Constitution.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi made the announcement in a news conference on Sunday.
“We have decided to express solidarity with the chief justice and stand with the Constitution and for that matter, it is my request to legal fraternity and civil society to join us at the Constitution Avenue,” he announced.
The PTI’s decision to express solidarity with the CJP was taken in the wake of persistent attack on the judiciary from certain political parties which also opted to different tactics to halt implementation of the Constitutional provisions in the certain matters, especially upcoming elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing the media in Karachi, the former foreign minister urged the political parties that wanted to turn away from the Constitution to come out in the open, clarifying that “silence is not an option”.
“The silence that PPP has adopted is not enough,” he said. “Either the PPP stands with the Constitution or it should outright announce that it is abrogating it.”
He said the grandson of Bhutto had undone his legacy by attacking the Constitution.
Qureshi also lashed out the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for attacking the judiciary and pressurizing the apex court.
