According to team manager Mansoor Rana, Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Shoaib Malik are feeling better and will most likely play today (Thursday) in the T20 World Cup semi-final match against Australia.
The PCB said in a statement that the health of both players has improved and that a medical team will assess their fitness before the important match. Furthermore, it also added that the final decision will be confirmed by the management later in the day.
Rana said, “We are hopeful that both the players will be in action today. They want to play in the semi-final.” Rizwan and Malik’s participation in today’s semi-final was in doubt after the in-form batters contracted the virus. Their COVID-19 tests, on the other hand, came back negative, and the physicians urged them to relax, so they skipped the last practice session and stayed at the hotel.
In the Super 12 stage of the tournament, Pakistan went undefeated, defeating India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland.
Babar Azam, who gave a virtual press conference the day before, expressed confidence that the Men in Green would retain their momentum and perform well against Australia in the semi-final.
