Money Heist, the show that glued its viewers to their screens for four seasons, is now back for a fifth and concluding season. The final season has been divided into two volumes, and from the first volume, five episodes dropped on 3rd September 2021.
Netflix, a subscription-based streaming service that allows its members to watch numerous shows and movies, is based in Los Angeles and has its original productions released at 12:00 am on the dot. This means that the world and different states watch the new releases at different times.
The release of Money Heist’s new season had its audience hanging onto the edges of their seats, waiting to know what was going to happen after the previous season’s cliffhanger ending.
Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) is a Spanish crime/thriller show which released its first season in May 2017 and was an immediate hit. Enrapturing its viewers from the start, it is an intricate story of a bank robbery carried out by a ‘professor’ and 8 robbers recruited by him. The suspense, the thrill, and the jaw-clenching scenes drew more and more viewers to watch the show as the story unfolded and continues to unfold to date.
The official synopsis released for Season 5, Volume 1 was:
“The gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.”
As the hype continued to rise, WhatsApp released a sticker pack solely based on Money Heist characters prior to the release, while a company in India by the name of Verve Logic gave its employees an entire week off to watch the 5th season, and also provided Netflix subscriptions to those employees who didn’t possess one.
Currently trending at #1 on Netflix, Money Heist season 5 volume 1 seems to have met the audience’s expectations and has gotten them hooked to their screens as the death of another favorite character occurs.
Two days into Season 5, Volume 1, and the audience is already captured by the whirlwind 5 episodes they’ve binge-watched, which unravels several backstories, giving further insight to the characters the audience has grown so attached to.
Now the viewers are anxiously waiting for the upcoming volume 2 of season 5, the finale, which is to be released in December.
