The inaugural session of the 18th Punjab Assembly is scheduled to commence at 10 am tomorrow (Friday), while the Sindh Assembly will be convened at 11 am on February 24 (Saturday)
The newly elected members from the February 8 general elections will be sworn in during this session.
Punjab Governor Baligh Ur Rehman has issued a notification to convene the meeting, with Speaker Sibtain Khan administering the oath to the newly elected members.
Notably, Khan will retain his position until the new house elects a new speaker.
This session marks a significant milestone, as the Punjab Assembly becomes the first legislative body to take the oath following the recent elections.
In a separate development, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has summoned a session of the provincial legislature at 11 am on February 24 (Saturday).
According to an official notification, the Provincial Assembly of Sindh will convene at the Sindh Assembly building in Karachi.
Governor Tessori exercised his powers to call the session, setting the stage for the Sindh Assembly to convene and initiate its post-election proceedings.
