PTI decides to sit on opposition benches in center, Punjab

Imran Khan given these directives

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday announced to assume the role of the opposition in both the Centre and Punjab.

This decision to this effect was taken in line with the directives of the PTI’s Founder Imran Khan, currently incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.

Addressing the media post a meeting with the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), PTI leader Barrister Saif announced that the party would sit on opposition benches in both the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly.

Saif, dismissing allegations of power lust often leveled against politicians, emphasized the party’s commitment to opposition despite having the potential to form governments based on the votes received.

He cited discrepancies in Form-47s, asserting that the initially victorious PTI-backed candidates’ results were altered.

According to Saif, the PTI, under Khan’s directives, was engaging with other political parties, as demonstrated by a delegation led by Asad Qaiser visiting the QWP secretariat.

He attributed the political unrest in the aftermath of the allegedly “rigged” 2024 polls to widespread complaints from various parties and citizens who believe their votes were tampered with.

While acknowledging that some may celebrate their newfound ability to form a government, Saif cautioned that the implications of the alleged rigging would have long-term repercussions for the nation and its democratic institutions.

Expressing the PTI’s desire for harmony and reconciliation, Saif detailed the discussions with the QWP, indicating that the PTI urged party leaders to join forces in protesting against the alleged election rigging.

QWP leader Sikandar Sherpao responded that the party would communicate its course of action after deliberating on the PTI’s proposal within its committee.
