First-Ever National Security Policy Of Pakistan Will Be Introduced Today in NSC Meeting

Prime Minister Imran Khan has called a meeting of the National Security Council today (27 December) in which the first-ever National Security Policy of the country will be put forth for approval.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed this news on Twitter.

The meeting will be attended by:

  • Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid.
  • Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.
  • Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security Moeed Yousaf.
  • other senior government and military officials.

During the meeting in Islamabad, the National Security Committee will be briefed on the present situation in Afghanistan and will discuss other national security problems.

According to the publication, Chaudhry stated that the strategy will include all internal and external security concerns, including the situation in Afghanistan and its influence on Pakistan and India, among other things.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister of Information, expressed regret earlier this month for the opposition’s decision to skip a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security.

“This is the first time in seven decades that a government has presented its national security policy before Parliament,” he said, adding that it was a national security issue, not a political one.
