The Prime Minister Received A Phone Call From His Iraqi Counterpart

Prime Minister Imran Khan received a telephone call from the prime minister of Iraq, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, on Thursday (23 September).

Imran Khan, during the telephone call, wished the Iraqi government success for their parliamentary elections which are to be held in October, this year. He also expressed that in the future, the democratic intuitions along with democracy will ultimately strengthen in Iraq.

According to the PM office, Imran Khan also congratulated Mustafa Al-Kadhimi for holding the Baghdad Conference last month for ‘Cooperation and Partnership.’

The two ministers indicated a willingness to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries in a variety of areas, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and religious tourism.

The Prime Minister applauded the government of Iraq for hosting Pakistani Zairean who visit Iraq every year for religious purposes. Furthermore, the Prime Minister added that it would turn out to be beneficial for both countries if religious tourism is promoted.

PM Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, while acknowledging the religious sentiments agreed to extend facilitation in the religious domain. Both the Prime Ministers also discussed the undergoing situation in Afghanistan. 

PM Imran khan told his counterpart about the constant support and efforts which have been provided to Afghanistan by Pakistan and highlighted that stability is vital especially for regional peace and security.

Moreover, Imran Khan also talked about the importance of the international community’s interest in Afghanistan as it can serve as a major contributor to regulate peace and security and prevent the country from going into an economic lockdown.

In addition, Imran khan highlighted the assistance provided by Pakistan in averting the humanitarian crisis for its Afghan brethren through the routes of land and air.

Both Prime Ministers talked on the importance of helping the Afghan people by providing humanitarian assistance. In addition, both agree that their funds should also be released so the economic situation of Afghanistan can move towards, if not prosperity then at least stability.

The two leaders also vowed to remain in close contact so that bilateral cooperation can further be upgraded in different fields. Imran Khan also hoped to receive the Prime Minister of Iraq on a bilateral visit to Pakistan.
