PDM 2.0 confirmed: Shehbaz Sharif likely to be PM

Maryam Nawaz will be CM Punjab candidate

The nation is expected to see continuity of the previous political regime that gained power under the umbrella of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) following the ouster of Imran Khan who is currently in jail and his backed independent candidates received lion’s share of public mandate in the recent elections held on February 8.

Leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid are addressed a press conference in Islamabad to unveil the role of PDM 2.0.

During a press conference, PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari disclosed that a collective decision had been made among political leaders to form a unified government.

Zardari underlined the need for national reconciliation, extending an invitation to all political forces, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to collaborate on common economic and defense agendas.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif echoed the sentiment of unity, calling for an end to “issues of ego” and advocating for “revolutionary steps” to address the country’s economic challenges.

He renewed the call for the Charter of Economy, urging fellow leaders to promote the Charter of Democracy and foster reconciliation by putting aside past grievances.

In a notable development, Shehbaz Sharif appealed to his brother, Nawaz Sharif, to accept the office of the Prime Minister.

Additionally, he announced that PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz would be the party’s candidate for the position of Chief Minister of Punjab, following internal consultations.

Addressing the economic challenges faced by the country, Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Aleem Khan emphasized the need for difficult decisions to alleviate the impact of inflation on the poor. He expressed hope that the upcoming government led by Shehbaz Sharif would take decisive actions to address the economic crisis.

MQM-Pakistan Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui emphasized the importance of serving Pakistan, pledging mutual cooperation to strengthen democracy and support Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership.

He urged all political factions to set aside their interests and collaborate with a common approach for the benefit of the nation.
