PTI Ex-MPA Adnan shot dead in Rawalpindi, says police

Teams formed for arrest of those involved

Former PTI Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Muhammad Adnan was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in Rawalpindi, as confirmed by the local police.

The incident took place near the city police officer’s office in the Civil Lines area.

Adnan contested in the general elections from Rawalpindi’s NA-57 and PP-19 constituencies, was targeted in what initial investigations suggest might be a result of personal enmity.

Adnan, born on February 15, 1976, served as an MPA from 2018 and held positions as parliamentary secretary for social welfare and revenue during his tenure.

According to the spokesperson of Rawalpindi police, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani took notice of the killing of former member of the provincial assembly Chaudhry Adnan due to a firing on him in Civil Lines area.

The Superintendent Police (Pothohar) has been ordered to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident, the statement said that was posted on X formerly Twitter.

The police officers had reached at the crime scene and teams were formed to arrest the accused, it said, adding the preliminary investigation suggested a personal animosity.

It said Chaudhry Adnan contested the election as an independent candidate in the recent election, assuring that the case was being investigated from all aspects.

Those involved would be arrested and presented before the court in accordance with the law, it added.
