PM takes notice of Umer Sharif’s request for travel assistance

The veteran actor, Umer Sharif has been suffering from an undisclosed illness and the doctors have told him that he will have to get his treatment done from abroad. Umer Sharif put a request to the government, in a video on Thursday (9th September) to help him in getting the required treatment.

Shahbaz Gill, spokesperson of the Prime Minister has said that Imran Khan has taken notice of the request put forward by Umer Sharif.

In a pre-recorded statement, the legendary comedian stated that he does not have medical choices for his illness in Pakistan and that he believes Prime Minister Imran Khan will accommodate his request.

Sharif in his message said “I have been told by my doctors that, for better treatment, I will have to go abroad. I believe I helped Imran Khan, as much as I could, with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.”

In addition, he added “Doctors are telling me I can get the best treatment in America. I, Umer Sharif, am now addressing the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan Sahab. Whenever you have called me for anything, I have always been there for you, which is why I believe that you will also be there for me.”

Shahbaz gill said that he felt sad after seeing the video of Umer Sharif and assured that all efforts will be made to assist Sharif in his treatment.

He said “The video filled my heart with sorrow because Umer Sharif has always made us laugh and we’ve always seen him laughing, chipper, and spreading happiness. I pray that God gives him health.”

Gill continued to convey his intention to inform the PM personally of the situation and the immediate need for Sharif to travel. He said, “First thing tomorrow morning I will personally relay his message to the Prime Minister, and I will personally contact the three countries and will try to arrange for treatment since even doctors have said that his ailment is complicated and the treatment for it is not possible in Pakistan.”

He further explained that Saudi Arabia along with Germany will be better options as “the benefit of which will be that these two countries are closer and that we may be able to do things faster. We will try with the US also; whichever country can facilitate our request.”

Waseem Badami also stressed that the assistance required by Umer Sharif is not financial but rather technical as the Covid-19 pandemic has brought many technical issues with it. He reaffirmed that Sharif needed help only in the technicalities of going abroad.

According to Badami, the doctors of Sharif have recommended that he fly to the USA, Germany, or Saudi Arabia in the coming 15 to 20 days.
