The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on complaint of a woman who reported being raped at one of the hiking trails in the capital’s Margalla Hills.
The FIR was lodged at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station in the early hours of the morning under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to a copy of the FIR, the complainant, a resident of Muridke, stated that she had been searching for employment when she received a message on WhatsApp approximately two months ago.
The message came from an individual who claimed to be an accountant in the education department, offering assistance in securing a job there, it continued.
The complainant alleged that the man asked for Rs50,000 in return for his help.
On Wednesday, July 12, she traveled to Rawalpindi as instructed by the suspect.
At the last bus stop of Tench Bhatta, they met, and she handed over her curriculum vitae and Rs30,000.
The remaining Rs20,000 were to be paid once she received a written employment order.
The suspect informed her that she would have to meet a senior officer for an interview and took her to Margalla Hills’ trail 3, which located at Margalla Road in F-6.
However, instead of an interview, the suspect allegedly took her to a secluded area in the jungle on Thursday, July 13, around 3 pm, where he raped her at gunpoint.
Fearful for her life, the complainant remained silent during the assault, as the suspect had threatened to kill her if she made any noise. Afterward, the suspect dropped her off at the last bus stop of Tench Bhatta, warning her once again.
The victim has demanded “strict” legal action against the suspect and requested a medical examination. Accordingly, she was taken to Polyclinic, accompanied by a lady constable, for the medical checkup.
