From Afghan Minister to Delivery boy in Germany

Ahmad Saadat, former Afghan Minister of information, was spotted in an orange uniform on the streets of Leipzig with a bag on his back. The Oxford graduate had left his position as the minister a year ago, and now he is seen to be delivering pizza in Germany.

These pictures of Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat were captured by a German Journalist who claimed to have seen the ex-minister on the streets of Leipzig cycling to deliver pizzas and put them up which led to them becoming viral on social media.

The Journalist tweeted about this incident on his Twitter account, “A few days ago, I met a man who claimed to have been the Afghan communications minister for two years ago. I asked what he was doing in Leipzig. “I’m driving out of Essen for Lieferando” the man had replied.”

Saadat, himself confirmed the circulating pictures to be his when talking to Sky News Arabia, he had joined the government in 2018 as a cabinet minister for Ashraf Ghani. He was working as Afghanistan’s information and technology minister for two years and resigned in 2020. He seemingly arrived in Germany in December last year. The ex-minister also has two graduate degrees from Oxford University in communications and electronic engineering.

After arriving in Germany he soon ran out of money and had to pick up odd jobs, because he was unable to get a reply back from the places he applied to. When asked about his feelings towards his ongoing circumstances, he replied, “At present, I am leading a very simple life. I feel safe in Germany. I am happy to be with my family in Leipzig. I want to save money and do a German course and study further,” he said. He also stated, “I applied for many jobs but no response came. My dream is to work in a German telecom company.
